TELEVISION SOUND WITHOUT PICTURES

television soundtracks, tv audio, tv archive, television archive
(Erased, Damaged, Destroyed, Inaccessible, Misplaced)

More than half of all television broadcasts, from the golden & silver age, have been erased, damaged, destroyed, misplaced or are inaccessible. Our peerless collection of television soundtracks were audio-recorded, off the air, at the time when these programs were originally broadcast. Until the 1970s, very few individuals or museums archived television programs.

We recorded them on 1/4" reel to reel audio tape.

Today, the video portions of thousands of these broadcasts are no longer known to exist anywhere else in the world and surviving audio air checks become the only broadcast record in existence.

Duplications of these pristine TV soundtracks are now available for:
    • Personal Data
    • Biographical Research
    • Entertainment & Nostalgia Retrospectives
    • Motion Picture & Television Inserts
    • Educational Purposes
    • Complete Original Broadcast Transcription Verification
No rights are given or implied. Any commercial fair use of these tapes is strictly the responsibility of the purchaser. Broadcasts not in the Public Domain may currently be copyrighted.

Thousands of additional titles are currently being added from our archive to this website database. All inquiries are welcomed including information regarding other TV audio air checks not yet listed on the Archival Television Audio, Inc. website and the existence of Television Audio Air Checks (1946-1982) not in our collection or known to us.

Help us preserve television history.
We are currently seeking grants and investors to enable us to digitize and preserve the entire Archival Television Audio collection, and to eventually create an Archival Television Audio Museum.  All inquiries are welcomed.

WHY DOES ONE ARCHIVE?

Does one archive for enjoyment, investment or social contact? Is archiving a quest in itself, or a pursuit that is never quite complete? Motivation could include psychological security, filling a void or a means to distinction. Satisfaction seems to come from arranging, rearranging, classifying, and controlling acquired artifacts related to our tangible & non-tangible historical heritage.
