Highlights of the second day of the Olympic Track and Field Trials, taped this afternoon at Downing Stadium on Randall's Island in New York City. Today's events are part of the first elimination meet held to choose the US Olympic track and field squad for the summer games in Tokyo.  

Hosting this 90 minute  speical ABC TV broadcast are Jim McKay, Bob Mathias and Bill Flemming.   

Events and leading entrants...pole vault: John Pennel, current world record holder at 17 feet, 3/4 inch; and Fred Hansen, whose recent vault of 17 feet, 2 inches, is a pending world record. 
Triple Jump: Darrell Horn and Kent Floerke. Discus: 1956 and 1960 Olympic Champion Al Oerter and Rink Babka. 110-meter high hurdle: Blaine Lindgren and Hayes Jones. 200-meter run: Paul Drayton and Henry Carr. 400-meter run: Ulis Williams and Adolph Plummer. 800- meter run: Jerry Siebert and Norm Hoffman. 1500-meter run: Dyrol Burleson and Tom O'Hara. 300- meter steeplechase: Jeff Fishback and Pat Traynor. 
Jim McKay, Bob Mathias,  Bill Flemming report and Dick Bank conducts the interviews.
