"The Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, Jim Nabors special" brings together Mayberry's three favorite home-town boys for an hour of comedy and music, adapted from their hit nightclub act.  
Friendship is the theme as Andy recalls two great pals of the past-Julius Caesar and Brutus-and Don describes the flight of Gemini X11, piloted by two unfriendly astronauts. In sketches, we learn why Sheriff Taylor (Andy) hired Barney (Don) as his deputy; and Andy, Don, and Jim attend a family picnic. 
Peter Gennaro staged the dances. Alan Copeland arranged and conducted the chorus and orchestra. Director Alan Hanley co-produced with Bob Wynn. Script by Aaron Ruben.                

Arthur Godfrey and Don Ameche are hosts for a nostalgic review of the great stars and favorite programs of radio and television history. Joining them in this special are Bing Crosby, Lucille Ball, Gale Gordon, Sheldon Leonard, Rod Serling, John Scott Trotter, and We Five, who sing "Beyond the Sea." Many others. Many archival transcripts are heard with Freeman Gosden, Charles Correll, Fanny Brice, Rudy Vallee, Milton Berle, and Fred Allen.

In comedy sketches, Andy offers his version of the opera "La Traviata," and hillbillies Andy and Ernie face an evening without TV because Ernie shot the NBC "chicken."

Frank Gorshin joins her for a double-edge tour de force: a spoof of the movie classic "Grand Hotel" and 11 famous actors. Bobby Darin and Debbie portray a hip Las Vegas couple. Donald O'Connor and Debbie sing and dance numbers from their movies, and scenes from the films provide the backdrop.

Rural comedy set in the town of Mayberry, starring Andy Griffith as the town sheriff Andy Taylor and Don Knotts as his inept deputy. It also co-starred Ron Howard as Andy's son Opie and Frances Bavier as Aunt Bee. Jim Nabors also co-starred as Gomer Pyle. On February 15th, 1960, Griffith appeared as Sheriff Andy Taylor on the Danny Thomas Show and arrested Thomas for running a stop sign.
